Diamond earrings are a great way to complete an outfit. Especially large earrings can have a major impact on your look. The possibilities for diamond earrings range from simple yet dazzling studs to gracefully dangling earrings. They each have their own roles within your wardrobe, but both will look amazing.

The word carat is of extreme importance in the world of jewellery, but when we’re talking about the world of diamond jewellery it has a double meaning. Both gold and diamonds are valued with carats/Karats, but the meaning is quite different.

When we’re talking about gold, Karat refers to the purity of the precious metal. A 24-Karat ring is made of nearly 100% gold, while 18-Karat gold is made of 18 parts gold and 6 parts another metal.

When you hear the word diamond, your first vision is probably that of a brilliant cut diamond. There are however many more diamond shapes to choose from. To name a few: the pear shaped diamond, emerald cut diamond and the marquise cut diamond. Today we’ll be taking a look at the latter, the marquise cut diamond.

The word carat refers to a weight when we're talking about diamonds, 1 carat is exactly 0.2 gram. It can be pretty confusing since gold in jewelry is also noted in carat, where the word refers to a unit of purity for gold alloys. The symbol for carat as a weight (such as in diamonds )  is “ a 1 ct diamond”, whereas in gold one refers to 24 kt, 18 kt, or 14 kt Gold. One carat diamond is divided in 100 points.
